Calligraphy is one artform that I never excelled in back in school. I still remember my ink stained fingers as I attempted manuscript. It all sounded refined and classy, until I actually sat down to write. Hooboy. Such irony that I am picking up dip pen right now. And loving it. Perhaps because I steer away from the strict forms and opt to go for the fluid scripts. My art teacher must be shaking her head in dismay.
But it really is not a portable art form. A couple of friends have hacked the JinHao fountain pen to make pointed pen calligraphy ‘portable’ but I have not gone there… yet. Perhaps because I just found something new to obsess with… the brush pen.
I managed to dig through my stash to find (ultra!) old Tombow pens but have since gone to art
heavenfriend to get Brushables. So much fun.
Now how to balance practice time for ALL the different pens? Impossible. But meantime, don’t they all look so pretty?
